Storms aren’t much fun to travel through, but your means off transportation sure is factor in how much you feel it.
I prefer traveling by RV, where fierce winds may cause us to swerve from time to time, but there is no chance of falling thousands of feet in a split second like in an airplane. My husband and I have a 37 foot class A that sits up real high and has a huge, flat windshield. I call it “the beast” because driving it feels like trying to tame a wild animal but put me in the plush lounge chair beside my man and I have all the confidence in the world that he has everything under control.
I think its’s all about having proper perspective and trust. In a plane you can’t see ahead of you and you don’t know the pilot. In a car you can’t see through the kick-up from the car in front of you. In “the beast” my vision is wide and far. Having traveled most of the USA and a bit of Canada, my family has faced many difficult travel conditions, but we always make it through and we count each challenge an adventure.
Of course it helps to have all the comforts of home in route with us, but I think the thing that has really built our confidence is lots of experience that has proven our driver trustworthy. We have never faced any weather, map or mechanical problem that my handy hubby couldn’t fix or find our way out of.
If I were at the wheel, however, I’m not sure any of us would feel very secure. I don’t know about you, but I’d rather be in the passenger seat through life’s storms as well. What kind of transportation are you traveling through life in? Are you confident with who is at the wheel? Maybe it’s time to give control to the One who is most capable of handling the difficulties. When we, like Carrie Underwood, let Jesus Take the Wheel, we can have confidence that we will make it through.
