Life may never be the same after this pandemic, but it sure is good to get back into the salons, even if it’s so much less personal! It’s just easier to cope with all the changes when our nails are finished and our hair is good, isn’t it?
As women, when we feel beautiful, we feel confident.
Achieving beauty is one way we attempt to become confident. Success, wisdom, popularity and strength are other powerful sources for self-esteem. Yet, the moment someone outshines, undermines, devalues or corrects us, we will likely feel defeated, diminished, devalued.
Is there anything that will truly satisfy our need to feel good about ourselves?
I believe there is one true and lasting source of confidence, and it is love.
Think of how a new bride or pregnant woman “glows” with a beauty that really has nothing to do with her appearance.
Love gives us Confident Beauty, which doesn’t wear off like makeup does!
Lest you think I’m naive, let me assure you that I am well aware that love wears off and rejection from the one you love can completely demolish any confidence the young love gave. Trust me, I know the sting of man’s betrayed love. Any relationship gone bad can defeat our confidence, this is absolutely true, but if you have ever experienced a love that doesn’t falter or fail when you do, you know there is no greater source of true and lasting confidence.
Acceptance changes everything.
Friends and partners may accept us for who we are, how we look or what we do, but this will never be enough. Even if we faultlessly prove ourselves to be amazing, people change their minds.
God does not.
Human love competes, compares and collides with its own need for value; it expects something in return; it wavers and wanders when it is disappointed. It gives up and betrays. This is why our shortcomings are a threat to our identity.
Only the acceptance of unconditional love can truly can give us unwavering confidence because it has nothing to do with how we look, feel or behave.
We cannot earn self-confidence because it really has nothing to do with self. True confidence cannot be achieved, acquired or accomplished. It can only be accepted, for it is a gift.
God loves you. Do you believe that? You may believe that He loves the world, but it’s hard to accept that His love is also for you. Most of us try to earn God’s love, because it’s hard to accept a free gift. It’s true that with most things in life, if we don’t earn it ourselves, than we have no right to take pride in it.
So, with prideful arrogance, we feel we don’t deserve a hand out-even if it is from God.
Confidence is the most beautiful when it is effortless.
It may seem ironic, but I believe it with all my heart: true confidence requires nothing except humility. If you have accepted God’s unconditional, free gift of love, then you ARE a Confident Beauty!
