What Makes You Pound the Table and Weep?

“What makes you pound the table and weep?” I ask this question often when I am trying to get to know a new group of women. I love to watch the expressions as the first participant speaks up. It’s like watching a field fire spread as each woman looks deep into her heart for what really matters to her. I learn a lot about which style each girl is by the way she expresses her desires to see things change in her world.

We all have different dreams and passions, but when you get right down to it, your personal Image Identity (Img.ID), like your personality, is the driving force behind what it is important in your life.

        • Classics want things in order.
        • Naturals want things peaceful.
        • Dramatics want things done with excellence.
        • Ingenues want things done creatively.
        • Romantics want things done with compassion.
        • Gamines want things done fairly.

Let’s take a nurse for example. Most women I know in the medical field are Gamines, which makes a lot of sense because these women take action immediately, they naturally respond to crisis with logic, poise and control. Emotion seldom keeps them from doing what they need to do. They have an innate ability to fight for the underdog and make things right. Fixing that which is wrong is what makes them pound the table and weep–usually without tears.

There are other Img.IDs who do well in medicine, although I have seldom seen Ingénues or Dramatics stay in the field (which makes sense, since a sterile environment leaves little room for their passions for creativity). Classics do especially well on the administrative end of medicine; Naturals are often nurses (uniforms are great for their image!) they do especially well with showing compassion to the patient, which is where a Romantic does well, too, but this sensitive beauty needs to be careful not to burn-out since she feels other people’s pain so deeply.

Of course this is over-simplifying it, but understanding why your passion is so important to you is the key to unlocking your dreams and pursuing your passion. It’s also the key to discovering your Img.ID.

Now I ask you, what drives you to do what you do?
