What’s in Your Closet?

nothing to wearStatistics show that 80% of a woman’s wardrobe is either uncomfortable, torn, stained, outdated, or impractical for her every day lifestyle. If this is your reality, I bet you are like most of us who stand before our crowded closets and say, “I have nothing to wear!” Men might think we are crazy and ungrateful, but the reality is that we are overwhelmed with so many items that we do not like (but do not want to get rid of!) or love (but do not–or cannot–wear!) that we cannot even see the choices that are good for us, never mind put them together as a complete outfit.

What you wear represents who you are. If putting together an outfit has you starting your day stressed, then it’s time to make some changes so that your closet is filled only with items that fit, flatter and make you feel confident.

I’ve helped a lot of women make these changes. It’s never an easy process unless she is truly ready emotionally; but if she is ready, this simple process can be very empowering.

I was just recently in that dreadful place of needing a wardrobe rehab myself. My usual practice is to do a seasonal weeding. Hey, I’m no different than the majority of you–it’s hard for us women to take care of ourselves–I’d rather get by with what I have then spend time or money on myself any day. Luckily, I get the family rate, so this time I did a complete clean out and became my own client. Throughout the process, I argued with myself just like my clients do, “but I really like that…” But in the end, I had a uncluttered, organized and ENJOYABLE closet filled with choices of completed outfits (head to toe, inner and outer wear, accessories and all) and it feels so liberating. Now I’m just dying to share the experience with you! For the next three Wednesdays, my blogs will walk you through a Closet Audit, Wardrobe Weeding and Building a Confident Closet all for the same family rate I paid: “on the house.”

Until then, think about this: What’s in your closet?
