3 Reasons Confidence will Help you Succeed

Recently, I was asked to give a thirty-second synopsis of what I have learned about:

The Key to being successful as a creative.

I wanted to laugh and reply with the very same question to the one who was asking me! Thankfully, I had a moment to recognized that my initial response before I had to reply.  By comparing my interviewer’s perspective of my success with my not-so-beautiful-reality (and my perspective of his social media posts to what may not be as amazing as his reality) I was falling into the trap of comparison, the very thing we each must each overcome in order to become “successful” at anything.

Success is different to each of us, but wether our goal is to sell our craft, perform on stage, build a business or launch our children out into the great big world, we need one thing to succeed:

Confidence: the state of feeling certain about the truth.
  1. CONFIDENCE is what makes us bold enough to let go of what we have to offer so that others can enjoy it. It gives us strength to risk failure, rejection or objection.
  2. CONFIDENCE is a quiet trust that does not cling to that which it has to offer. Confident people take peaceful, tenacious action without obsessing over what is outside of their responsibility. They use their strength and resources with wisdom and determination.
  3. CONFIDENCE is empowered by truth. It is unconcerned with opinions but is willing to learn from other perspectives in order to improve because it is not ashamed but is also not prideful.

CONFIDENCE develops when you: KNOW WHO YOU ARE

If you are trying to succeed at anything, I encourage you to understand your gifts and their purpose and then simply continue to share. Don’t expect everyone to want what you offer–you don’t like every craft either–it’s nothing personal. BE and LET BE and press on with confidence.

No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it,[a] but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us. -Philippians 3:13-14
