The Secret to Simplifying your Closet

Spring is such an exciting time of year, isn’t it? As the trees begin to bloom and new buds break through the gardens, they call us out of our homes and into the yards to prepare for the season to come. Fun in the sun is just around the corner, but for now there is a lot of work to be done.

WEEDING

The long winter brought down to the ground what once was colorful foliage. The dead, dry leaves must now be raked and removed to make way for that which is to come. This cycle is simply a fact of life. If we want beautiful gardens, we must clean them out or else, no matter how lovely the new flowers, their beauty will be hindered by all the old clutter around them.

Your closet is the same way. Yes, it’s time to pull out the bright colors and light fabrics again. It may even be time to do some serious shopping, but first, let’s make room for that which is to come.

I’m sure I just lost half of you. Most women find the idea of doing a Wardrobe Weeding rather intimidating, yet they have no problem pulling weeds from their garden. Why is this?

IDENTIFYING THE WEEDS

In all my years of helping women with this issue, I have found that the secret to creating a Confident Closet is not having a professional, like me, do the clean out for you. The secret is having someone like me help you discover your personal Image Identity (Img.ID) and teach you how to best accentuate your authentic beauty.

What is a Supreme MakeOver?

If you know that black clothing completely drains your complexion or that strong fabrics or patterns overpower your petite features, then it is easy to recognize these things as “weeds” which are choking the confidence right out of your closet. Removing them becomes rewarding, like raking a garden of leaves.

The challenge comes from the uncertainty.

Even after figuring out which of the six styles you are, it may be difficult to recognize which clothing styles to keep or throw out. For some women, it is easier to do a Wardrobe Weeding slowly and methodically, which is why I created a simple, downloadable checklist, (Click here to get the FREE Wardrobe Weeding checklist PDF ). For others, it is best to simply start over; and for some of those women it is best to get the help of a professional (or of an unbiased friend) to assist them in starting over.

Whether you take the process slowly or do a complete purge, I encourage you to get to the point where you have a clean, scarce closet before you start bringing in the new. In fact, I recommend you empty the closet completely, clean it thoroughly and then decorate it practically before you start putting any clothes back in.

In my next blog I will give you some tips about filling that closet again with only clothes that make you feel confident and beautiful.

For now, wether you do it all at once or do one thing at a time, be sure to  get my FREE Wardrobe Weeding checklist PDF to help you.
