What 2 Wear Back to School

backto schoolFall is in the air.
Parents and kids everywhere are gearing up for what Staples coined as “the most wonderful time of the year.” It’s time to replenish the wardrobe and restock the backpacks, and I’m sure that makes things wonderful for the supply stores, but for the kids headed off to school–especially those going to new locations–this can be a very distressing time of year.
Personally, I love this season, not because I want my kids out the door, but because I want a routine in the ical again, not to mention that this is a busy time for my business–new beginnings are a great time to update the wardrobe or find a new look!

I love to help girls and women as they transition into a change of life and autumn seems to be full of changes. New schedules, new schools, new teachers and friends. This week many teens are headed off to new locations to start college and with that brings new roommates and new responsibilities. So what’s a girl to wear when she faces a major change in life?

My advice:

  • Whenever possible wear blue when making a first impression; it’s inviting and powerful without being intimidating.
  • When unsure of the formality of an event, always err on the side of overdressing versus underdressing; dressing up shows respect for yourself and those you are with, dressing down may insult others or make you feel self-conscious.
  • Always wear confidence. Like a garment, you can put on self-respect which not only makes others more respectful toward you, it also makes you more beautiful.

If you are facing a transition of life, remember that you have been granted the power to make your choices. Don’t let shame,  regret or disappointment keep you from making a fresh start. Unclothe the twisted-Truths in your life, and put on the garment of praise and expectation. You may not know what your future holds, but you can be confident in knowing Who holds your future.

Proverbs 31:25 (NLT) She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future.
Ephesians 6:14 (CEV) Be ready! Let the truth be like a belt around your waist, and let God’s justice protect you like armor.
